• Comes from a family with limited financial resources
•  Studies at a school with inadequate facilities 
•  Has not been enrolled in school or has not been able to continue studies
•  Has significant household responsibilities that impede continued schooling
• Has limited/no access to basic amenities of sanitation, running water and hygiene
•  Has limited or no access to medical care
•  Has no access to educational resources at home
•  Has limited parental guidance
•   The girl child

The children will be identified in the following way:

•  Children from the poorest schools in the area
• Children from the poorer communities and slums
•  Children of migrant labourers
• Children from areas without easy access to schools
